REMNANTS, by Robin LeBlanc and Neil Struthers

January 24, 2011 Leave a comment

My mates Robin LeBlanc and Neil Struthers have posted the first page of their new comic REMNANTS. And being smart cookies, they introduce the main character in the middle of something, getting the reader curious and hungry for more. As usual, Neil’s art is exceptional. Click to enlarge.

A Voiceover for PITCH BLACK

January 18, 2011 Leave a comment

I was writing a PITCH BLACK strip for the near future, and that strip contains a small monologue which I inexplicably felt like performing on my mic. I dragged my voice to its lowest pitch, recorded it with a British accent and digitally lowered my voice even further. This is the result.

My Live Interview

The first time I got interviewed was via e-mail, for Paul Grimsley’s In To Views. So, easy enough. Long time to think about the answers, write them, revise them and add the usual tasteless jokes.

But a few weeks ago, The Outhouse’s Brian Osserman (aka Prozacman) invited me to do a live interview about my webcomic PITCH BLACK. And I agreed to do it before my brain put the words “live” and “interview” together. When it did I was taken by overwhelming panic and the absolute certainty I would fuck it up. The problems were countless: I’m not good at talking over the phone, my brain and my mouth are never in sync and my spoken English is flawed. Okay, so they weren’t countless, but shut up they seemed countless to me at the time. I tried rehearsing by myself, deciding whether a British accent would work better than an American one (or at least make me seem smarter) and even predicting which questions I would be asked and writing down the answers to minimize stammering.

When the big night arrived, I had three answers written down in front of me for two hours of podcasting. Needless to say, I’m a shitty Nostradamus.

Things didn’t go too bad, though. I had fun, they tell me they had fun and that the podcast was a success, so hey, I’m certainly not gonna try detecting any lies there.

And by the way: during the interview, I told them about a question a friend of mine once asked me: “Why are Brazilian porn stars so hairy?”. Apparently I look like the right person to ask, but surprisingly I’m not, so I didn’t know the answer. On the interview, though, they were telling me about a podcast that talked about porn, MoleHole Radio. So during my interview, I mentioned the question my friend asked me, and after the interview Brian sent the question to MoleHole Radio. And told them, of course, that the question was mine.

They answered it on the air (at the 55 min mark). So now I’m internationally known as a pervert interested in male body hair, while the actual pervert interested in male body hair is at this moment laughing her ass off so hard she’s in danger of losing a buttock.

I’ve Made A Fucking DOWNFALL Parody

I know, I know, but the ongoing attempt to remove them all from YouTube stirred the rebel in me. It’s frankly pathetic, how they’re fighting so hard to make a meme as old and classic as this one just magically disappear. People apparently haven’t yet learned that once something is in the internet, it is forever lost.

I did try uploading this to YouTube, but it didn’t slip by, being almost immediately blocked. And Vimeo has put me on this seemingly unending line; I’ve uploaded the video literally fifteen hours ago and the fucking thing’s still telling me I’m on the line and they have no idea when the video will be processed. So Dailymotion it is:

Now Accepting Donations

This might surprise you, but I happen to like money, and PayPal just so happens to have this handy “Donate” button that can be pasted on a website and in fact I just pasted it on the sidebar right under RSS look LOOK DAMN YOU —>

I did resist the urge to scrap the entire sidebar except for a gigantic “Donate” button, for I am not a greedy person. At all. What I am is in need of some financial incentive, which would not only make me feel like I actually have a job, but it would also convince me there’s someone actually reading this website.

Of course, I am a realist, and don’t expect that button to ever be clicked on.

Rejected Covers For A Paper On Sir Isaac Newton

For my school, I had to write a paper on Sir Isaac Newton. I’ve settled on a cover, and then I decided to give other versions a try. Here they are:

Liberty Heist

The game GTA 4 for PC has an amazing video editor that easily surpasses any other in games, even “The Movies”, a game developed with this in mind which failed horribly, lacking basic video editing options like slow motion, filters, etc. I’ve been using the GTA 4 video editor constantly, and decided to film a long shoot-out in a heist mission. First, some screenshots:

The video is best seen on its original page due to the aspect ratio, so here you go. Enjoy.

Art Contest – Villainy Loves You

October 9, 2009 1 comment

My good friend Robin LeBlanc has started a brilliant contest on her website.

So here’s the deal. I’ve always loved looking at those cheesy portraits taken usually in malls during the 1980s, if you’re friends of mine chances are you love them too. With that in mind, here’s the contest:

Draw or photograph a portrait of a villain as if they are having it done to give to family or something. They can be holding flowers, standing in front of a chair, have lasers behind them, have another picture of them on the top right corner…ANYTHING. As long as it looks like a bad portrait. It can be of just one villain, or a “family shot” made of several villains…whatever you want. The only rules are that it must look like a 1980s portrait, it must be a villain from comics/movies/television and it must be them in a nice pose.

Now what’s a contest without prizes? The winner will receive:

- A mixed CD

- Some photography prints

- A 2GB flash drive with all sorts of goodies inside

- A picture of the framed winning picture on my office desk

- Something else that I can’t think of right now.

And there will also be runner up prizes! And of course, the top…let’s say 20 will be featured on this site.

SPECIFICATIONS: All pictures must be Portrait size and in 300 dpi. Send your submission to wornoldhat@gmail.com by October 31th 2009

EDIT: FOR THOSE THAT AREN’T CONFIDENT IN THEIR DRAWING SKILLS, I WILL ALSO ACCEPT PHOTOS!

That’s it! Sound good? Awesome!

Count me the fuck in.

Random Ranting #01 – A Review Of Resident Evil 5

In the first episode of what COULD be a series — possibly with recorded audio in the future — I review Resident Evil 5 in a slideshow. Random Ranting can be about anything, not just videogames, not just reviews. Feel free to put some music on, there’s no sound. Enjoy.

MUTO

It boggles my brainmeats to imagine how long it took to make this — it’s an amazing piece of work: graffiti animation.
